Readable first, compact second
Use official Shaker and Wet Sand behavior as the base rule, then leave enough spacing that blockages stay visible while you learn the loop.
Goal: build the smallest layout you can still read. Separate Wet Sand input, Shaker processing, Gold collection and Residue exit so every failure has an obvious place to inspect.
Use official Shaker and Wet Sand behavior as the base rule, then leave enough spacing that blockages stay visible while you learn the loop.

For a first factory, keep Wet Sand input, Shaker processing, Gold collection, and Residue exit separate enough that faults stay visible while you learn the loop.
This layout favors readability over density. Exact throughput, machine count, and the best footprint still depend on terrain and how much Gold you want beyond the first stable loop.
This concept is sized for learning, and it is a good point to replace it once the three rules feel automatic and you want more Gold than the compact shape can hold. Move on when you can predict where each material will sit before you place the machines.
The point is not to maximize throughput. It is to make the first production loop readable enough that you can see where Wet Sand, Gold and Residue are actually going.
Replace it when the layout is stable and predictable but no longer gives enough room to inspect or expand the line. That is the point where the dedicated Gold Factory page becomes more useful.
