Pick one side for Residue before you place transport around the Gold line.
Gold collection and Residue movement should not require the same tile space.
If Residue feeds another stage, that stage also needs clear output.
Official Shaker behavior supports one practical rule: byproduct needs its own exit path, or it will bury the parts of the line you need to inspect and keep clear.
It does not cover the best long-term byproduct bus, exact machine spacing for every map, or a universal downstream chain for Residue. It is a separation principle, not a complete factory benchmark.
The reliable answer is to give Residue its own side or downhill exit before it can cross Wet Sand input, Gold collection, or the next machine in line. Separation comes first.
Residue breaks lines when it shares space with product flow. Once byproduct covers the tiles you need for fresh input or output, the factory becomes harder to read and harder to recover.
