Sandustry Flower: The Factory You Grow Instead of Build

Flowers are the payoff of the Seed chain. Place a Wet Seed on a Planter Box and a Flower rises with a stem of Vine and a head containing exactly 4 Amethelis and 1 Gold. Break it — by weapon or by fire — and those five pixels drop out. Regrow, reharvest, repeat.

At a glance

Flower quick facts

  • Grows when a Wet Seed sits on a Planter Box
  • Built from a Vine stem and a head of 4 Amethelis plus 1 Gold
  • Breaks under weapons or Fire, releasing its head contents
  • Burnable, but cannot be wetted or launched

Running the Grow-and-Harvest Loop

A Flower field is the only Sandustry production line where the machine is alive. The planning questions change too: not throughput per second, but plots per harvest.

Planting

Wet Seed plus Planter Box

The chain starts at the Kinetic Press: Burnt Residue dropped from height becomes Gold and a Seed, the Seed drinks water to become a Wet Seed, and only the wet version will sprout on a Planter Box.

Harvest

Two ways to break a Flower

Weapons and Fire both work, and since Flowers are burnable, a flame sweep can clear an entire field at once. Time the burn so the drops land where your collection line can reach them.

Output

4 Amethelis per head

The four Amethelis petals from each head are the real prize: run them through a Steam Dryer and they become Dry Amethelis, the late-game material the top research tiers draw on.

Bonus

Every head hides 1 Gold

Alongside the petals, each head releases a Gold pixel. It is a small trickle per flower, but a mature field can add Gold to your harvest line without digging a new Gold vein every cycle.

Field math

What one full cycle yields

  • 1 Wet Seed on a Planter Box becomes 1 Flower
  • 1 Flower head = 4 Amethelis + 1 Gold
  • Scale linearly: more Planter Boxes, more heads per harvest
  • The field still depends on upstream Seeds, Water, and Burnt Residue
Good to know

The head shows a question mark

Hovering over a Flower head before destroying it displays only a question mark as the tooltip. The 4 Amethelis and 1 Gold are hidden until the moment the head breaks — another reason to plan your collection route before you start burning.

Core Flower branch

  • Flowers grow from Wet Seeds on Planter Boxes rather than being mined directly.
  • Each Flower head yields 4 Amethelis and 1 Gold when destroyed.
  • The Flower line is a repeatable harvest branch tied to the Seed chain.

What still varies by farm design

  • Harvest timing and burn pattern still depend on field size, safety, and how much manual handling you accept.
  • Weapon, fire, and transport interactions can create edge cases beyond the basic branch described here.
  • Early Access patches can change growth or yield behavior, so re-check exact expectations after updates.

Featured Questions

How do you grow Flowers?

Wet a Seed, place it on a Planter Box, and let the box grow it into a Flower.

What does a Flower drop?

Its head drops 4 Amethelis and 1 Gold when you break it.

Why is my field not paying off yet?

A Flower field still depends on stable upstream Seeds, Water, and harvest routing. If any of those stall, the field looks dead even when the Planter Boxes are correct.

Next step

Treat Flowers as part of a growing chain, not just a stored item. If the route depends on Water, check Water Mechanics; if output stalls, open Slow Production.
