Gold quick facts
- Gold is used to unlock Research technologies
- Solid Gold is worth 1 currency per pixel
- Gold only counts after it reaches a Collector
- Early flow depends on Wet Sand, Shaker clearance and Residue routing
Quick answer: early Gold usually comes from dropping Wet Sand onto a Shaker, where each Wet Sand always becomes Residue and has about a 25% chance to also drop Gold through the bottom. Later, Gold can also come from the Kinetic Press and from breaking Flowers. If your Gold line looks dead, first check Wet Sand input, the drop space below the Shaker, Residue escape, and whether Gold reaches a Collector.
Gold is not an ore vein you mine directly. It is a processed output, and the first practical question is which production route you are using.
The first Gold route is Sand plus Water becoming Wet Sand, then Wet Sand landing on a Shaker. This is the early-game source you should stabilize first.
Later, Burnt Residue dropped onto a Kinetic Press pays out Gold and Seeds. That is a different Gold loop with its own height and routing requirements.
Flowers are a later organic source. Breaking a Flower head drops Gold, so this route belongs to the Seed and Planter Box branch rather than the first Shaker line.
When Gold stops, the problem is usually the route feeding the Shaker, the drop space below it, or the way Gold is collected after it falls.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No Gold appears from the first line | Dry Sand is reaching the machine instead of Wet Sand. | Confirm Water touches Sand before the Shaker input. |
| Wet Sand reaches the Shaker but output looks dead | Gold drop space is blocked below the Shaker. | Clear the bottom exit and watch for Gold falling through the body. |
| Input buries the top of the machine | Residue is guaranteed on every Wet Sand pixel and is backing up. | Give Residue a downhill exit or compare the Gold Factory staircase layout. |
| You see Gold but research currency does not rise | Gold is not reaching a Collector. | Route the output into a Collector instead of leaving it loose in storage. |
| Gold flow is weak after scaling | The physical line is unstable, or the 25% Shaker payout is being judged over too short a sample. | Run a longer sample and fix Wet Sand, output space, and Residue flow before assuming the ratio is wrong. |
Gold is the currency that unlocks your early research tree, but the real milestone is physical stability: reliable Wet Sand, a readable Shaker line, and output that makes it into a Collector.
If the checklist fails at input, go to Wet Sand. If the machine body or byproduct path fails, compare with the Gold Factory Blueprint. If the output still looks wrong, open Factory Not Working.
Early Gold comes from Wet Sand on a Shaker. Later sources include the Kinetic Press and Flowers, but the first reliable route is still the Wet Sand to Shaker chain.
Loose Gold is not enough. The official Gold page says it must be stored in Collector blocks to count toward your bank.
